This lovely piece, although long, provides some great information on the options available to artists in numerous countries around the world. Of course, the Canadian stuff was no surprise to me as Factor and other organizations are well-known to us musical folk here in the Great White North, but I certainly did not know about the state of funding in Sweden or Norway.
So, perhaps you should study up and plan your next tour in a UHaul with your instruments and personal belongings in tow? Find yourself a friendly promoter willing to marry and start enjoying the benefits of a supportive arts community. I’d love to say come to Canada, but with Mr. Harper on the path he is on now the next version of this article may be a lot shorter for our portion.
