It seems the viral video darlings of Ok Go are at it again, and kudos to them for going one step outside of their typical music video hilarity. Above is the video they created while documenting their parade around LA to spell out “Ok Go” on the city map using an iPhone app. As a continuation of this project, they are now looking for their fans to help out by submitting video and online maps they make using the same app. The fan-submitted content will then be used to produce another video later this year, which will hopefully lead to the whole world becoming one giant canvas.
So, at this point you should be asking yourself, how can I beat this?
Danko Jones – My Problems (Are Your Problems Now) Lipsync Competition
Just wanted to toss out another great example of a cheap video idea. Of course, for something like this it helps if you have a pile of fans… or friends. Either way, it’s entertaining, and everyone of these people would have been sending it to everyone of their friends, some of whom may have never heard of Danko Jones.
Amount of work on the artist’s end: not much. Set up the contest, wait for the content, laugh your ass off while piecing it together, and put it back out to the people. Sounds like a good day job to me.
It will be interesting to see where this goes, and what the conditions are if you get involved, but it’s better than what we started with this morning, right?
Calm down though, it’s only in America for now.
